Will You Forget Me If We Can't Meet Again Twenty Years Later?

'My Girl' is a 2003 Thai coming-of-age romance comedy film. The two kid stars back then, Charlie Trairat and Focus Jirakul, have grown up to be famous actor and actress in Thailand, no longer the little boy and little girl 22 years ago...

The plot is actually quite cliché: A little boy named Jeab and a little girl Noi-Naa became good friends and played jumpsies together. Jeab was ridiculed by other boys as 'sissy' because of this. So he cut off Noi-Naa's jumping rope to prove his 'masculinity'. Later, Noi-Naa moved away. The two didn't see each other again, until at Noi-Naa's wedding 20 years later...

In the last scene of the film, when Noi-Naa in her wedding dress turned around, the grown-up Jeab still sees the ten-year-old Noi-Naa with "long braids, rosy cheeks, and big, bright eyes."...

The film touched hearts 22 years; maybe it still does. Probably everyone has this pure and innocent innocent emotion deep within. In one of the reviews of the film, there's this touching line, 'Will you forget me if we can't meet again 20 years later?'

When we go to a gathering where we meet old friends and classmates from 20, 30 or even 40 years ago, maybe we will hear something like, 'You still look handsome/beautiful', or 'You haven't changed much'. But we all know those are just polite words. How can a person remain unchanged over decades? But for the 'crush' or 'puppy love' we had many years ago, we will still remember his handsome look despite his big belly now, or her beautiful smile despite her wrinkles.

And, even if we can't see him/her again for 20, 30, 40 years or forever, we will still remember his/her best look, until the last moment of our lives...
